Individual Learning Needs & Assessment Procedures (YTT)
Individual Learning Needs
Learners are requested to identify any individual learning needs, medical conditions and/or injuries that may affect learning or the assessment process, on the application form or directly to the tutor. We will help you as much as possible.
Your tutor and assessor will be able to advise you on the specific requirements of the course and related assessments.
It is important that learners are aware that the course will involve a small amount of homework at the end of each day and between each weekend. This may involve some written work or practice of practical teaching skills and exercise technique.
Assessment Methods
The methods of assessment you will encounter are:
- Formative Assessment: Ongoing throughout the course in order to provide feedback on what you have learnt and what we suggest you would benefit from improving on.
- Continuous Assessment: Ongoing throughout the course to obtain a result which will count towards your overall assessment result.
- Summative Assessment: Final assessment in order to obtain a result which will count towards your overall assessment result.
You will need to complete the following assessments for successful completion of the Yoga Teacher Training Course:
Theory Assessment:
Anatomy and Physiology.
Worksheets:
These worksheets will be completed throughout the course and will be marked by your tutor:
- Philosophy Worksheets
- Yoga Asana benefits, foundations, expressions, modifications, props, teaching points
- Dealing with common conditions / injuries encountered in a Yoga class
Yoga Practice Journal:
The learner will produce a Yoga practice journal that reflects their development of self-enquiry through the learning program. Further details will be given at the start of the course.
Lesson Plans:
You will be required to create / write at least 3 lesson plans for a 1-hour yoga class within the duration of the course as follows:
- Suitable for a complete beginner student
- Open level Hatha class
- Vinyasa Flow class – peak pose or theme – group work on the last day
Practical Assessment:
- You will teach a class to a small group of students as your final practical assessment.
- You will have already prepared the lesson plan and had an opportunity to practice teaching it with feedback prior to the assessment.
- You will be made aware of the criteria needed to pass the assessment with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and practice
Our promise to you
If we feel you aren’t quite ready to begin teaching after your assessments, you will have the opportunity for further practice and to retake any part of the above assessments with no additional fee.
