Fascia & Stability CPD Workshop
How to teach a class without saying ‘engage your core’… and why
PILATES CPD | YOGA CPD
Looking at the human body from a fascial perspective, as a 3D multi-dimensional, interconnected structure, with it’s own innate wisdom and intelligence, we will explore using creative language so that you can describe how your students may experience the inner connections that offer them stability, from head to foot, during movement, without saying ‘engage your core’.
Stemming from the notion that ‘stability is a full body affair’ how can we guide our students so that they can experience this for themselves? Leading to more body awareness, interoception and agency in their movement classes. And how may our language vary according to the relationship to gravity in any given position?
In this 3-hour workshop, Clare Francis will guide you through a class so that you can embody this for yourselves. Then we will brainstorm the use of language, observing movement and cuing to what you see, to encourage more core activity and stability in certain shapes and exercises; and we will also consider when we may wish to use language to encourage a releasing of the core muscles as well as how to recognise over use and poor breathing patterns as a result of chronic holding and tension around the centre of the spine.
